Venus two wins away from regaining Wimbledon crown (3/7/2008 9:48:39 πμ)

Venus Williams will look to move another step closer to regaining her Wimbledon title when she plays Russian Elena Dementieva in the semi-finals today.

The Women's Championship at SW19 this year has been full of shocks and fifth seed Dementieva is the highest ranked player left in the tournament.

However, she is still a massive underdog to upset the progress of Williams, who seems set to face her sister Serena in the Wimbledon final for the third time.

Williams has won five of their seven previous meetings, including the last two, but the pair have never clashed on grass.

If Dementieva is to have a chance of coming out on top she must try to bolster her frail temperament and find a different way of handling the pressure.

At the French Open last year, Dementieva managed to throw away a set and 5-2 lead against Dinara Safina, while she made hard work of polishing off Nadia Petrova earlier in this tournament, despite having a set and a 5-1 lead.

Williams is 1.25 to pick up the win and move onto another final, while Dementieva can be backed at 3.20 to reach her first Wimbledon final.
