The ongoing saga between Gareth Barry, Aston Villa and Liverpool took another turn last night, when the England international was fined, told to stay away from pre-season training with Villa and even banned from the club shop, according to the Sun.

Barry is in hot water with Villa manager Martin O'Neill after making comments last weekend that his boss was spending more time being a TV pundit than discussing his future.

Those comments have cost the Villa skipper £100,000 and a ban from all club facilities.

It is pretty much certain that Barry has played his last game for Villa, with Liverpool still trying to negotiate a deal with the Midlands club for the England midfielder.

Barry's dream move to Anfield could be finally concluded after weeks of discussions with Liverpool offering £15 million plus add-ons, which Villa seem set to accept.

If Barry completes his Liverpool move, punters believing that a centre-midfield partnership alongside England colleague Steven Gerrard could send the title to Anfield, should put a bet on now.

Liverpool can be backed at 7.75 to win the English Premier League next season.
